Steve Lowe

Steve founded Compass in 1986, after leaving a national real estate development and private equity firm, where he was president of the company. At Compass, he is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the development process, including site acquisition, entitlements, site planning, architectural and engineering plans, financing, legal, construction, and sales.

Over the last 32 years, he has had direct responsibility for development and/or redevelopment of shopping centers in 4 states, purchase and sale of over 5,000 apartment units, development of class A office buildings, development of 5 apartment communities, and development of 5 condominium communities.

He has also been a consultant to the Utah State Bar (Arbitration), local banks (REO), a mining company (housing related), a retail developer, a grocery chain profit sharing plan and a bank trustee on a non-performing asset.

As a member of the Zoning Rewrite Committee for Salt Lake City, he made recommendations to the city for amending the city zoning ordinances, and was a member of the West Valley City Master Plan Revision Committee. As one of three directors and officers of a non-profit, he helped arrange a consortium of City, School District, and Private Donors to build a community recreation center.

Ben Lowe

Ben is responsible for sourcing, underwriting and managing various real estate developments, including Eaglewood Village in North Salt Lake.

Before coming to Compass Development Group, Ben was a Senior Associate at the Trammell Crow Company in Southern California. While at Trammell, Ben lead the development of a 90-acre mixed use project and was responsible for underwriting over 4 million square feet of industrial development projects. He was also involved in the due diligence and management of various industrial and office developments.

Ben graduated Cum Laude in Finance from the University of Utah where he served as Student Body President in 2001-2002. Upon graduating from Utah, Ben received his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Elizabeth Lowe

Elizabeth is responsible for development and management of real estate development projects with a particular focus on new acquisitions.

Before coming to Compass Development Group, Elizabeth was Vice President at RiverOak Investment Corporation, a real estate private equity firm located in Stamford, Connecticut. At RiverOak Elizabeth was responsible for all asset management as well as sourcing and underwriting new investment opportunities. During her time at RiverOak, Elizabeth was responsible for management of approximately $380 million in assets.

Elizabeth received her Bachelors degree from the University of Utah where she graduated Cum Laude. She also received her Masters in Business Administration from Brigham Young University as well as a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University.

Dave Gray

Dave directs and manages the sales and marketing of the company, while also acting as Senior Associate, responsible for actively pursuing, acquiring, budgeting, and managing real estate development projects, including Bella Monte at Draper Meadows.

Dave joined Compass in 2000 as a part time member of the sales team while attending the University of Utah, and is now directing and managing the sales of two multi-family condominium and townhome projects, which consist of over 600 total units. While selling for Compass, Dave personally sold nearly $20,000,000 of new construction townhomes. He is a certified new home sales professional through the National Home Builder’s Association and is actively involved with local church and community groups. Dave is an avid fly fisherman and enjoys boating, water skiing, and doing anything in the outdoors with his friends and family.

Dave graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Organizational Communications with a Minor in Business and was appointed as the Campus Relation’s Director for the University’s Executive Cabinet.

Taryn Apgood

Taryn’s responsibility is to protect the financial and legal welfare of the company by compliance with all federal and state regulations and by providing timely and accurate financial information.

Prior to joining Compass Development Group, she was an audit and tax associate at Martin, Vejvoda and Associates, a CPA firm located in Denver, Colorado that specializes in the construction industry.  While in public accounting, four of her clients were listed among the 400 largest construction companies in the United States.  She has several years experience in audit and income tax preparation.

Taryn graduated Cum Laude in Accounting along with the Honors Program Degree from the University of Utah.  She was an officer in three university related organizations and now volunteers time with The Junior League of Salt Lake.

Francesca Gordon

Francesca is an integral part of the day-to-operations of Compass Development Group.  She is responsible for the management of all contracts as well as all development and real estate files.  She also handles all warranty items for new homes.  Francesca manages reception and assists project managers in various tasks, including preparation of investment packages, marketing materials and new home binders.

Francesca has worked with Compass Development Group for nine years in various capacities. Prior to working at Compass, Francesca acquired 18 years experience working for various companies such as Stouffers and Utah Valley Credit Union where she performed accounting and management duties. Her experience includes accounting, management, customer service and sales.

Francesca is currently working on a master's degree at the University of Utah and has already completed a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science. Prior to the University of Utah, Francesca completed an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting from Utah Valley State College.

Paula Coombs

Paula oversees the management of Compass Court Townhomes, Compass Villa Senior Community and Compass Townhomes. Paula is responsible to ensure that all Compass rental communities remain in compliance with the LIHTC regulations that govern affordable housing communities.

Paula joined Compass in 2000 as an on-site manager for Compass Townhomes, and is now the Asset Manager for our rental properties.
